WESTERN NC TRIP - Various Projects
We are looking to take a crew to western North Carolina from April 12–15, where we will continue helping families recover from damage caused by Hurricane Helene. Our team will be finishing Sean’s metal roof (pictured) from a previous trip, installing about 400 feet of chain link fence (we especially welcome anyone with fence installation experience), and helping repair another homeowner’s roof. Families are welcome on this trip, and there will be opportunities for a variety of skill levels as we work together to serve and bring hope to the community.

Group transportation leaves from Garden Chapel, Middletown, PA. Please contact us or Mike directly if you plan to use the group transportation. If you are providing your own transportation, the lodging location is provided below.
Dorm-style lodging provided by CIT (Center for Intercultural Ministry) in Union Mills, NC. The group will be arriving here the evening of April 12th.
There is no cost to join the trip.
Volunteers under 18 years old must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian on this trip.
All volunteers will be required to complete a safety waiver on-site before serving.
Tree Removal Training Course - Rigging Basics
Tree Removal Training Course
Love In Action is hosting a training session to teach the basics of tree rigging and removal. If you are interested in ever joining a future team doing tree removal after a natural disaster, this course is a pre-requisite for those interested in joining one of our future rapid response teams. You will learn from an industry professional about the basics of safely rigging and removing damaged or fallen trees.

Chainsawing Training Course

Join us for a hands-on Chainsaw Safety and Training Seminar designed to help volunteers get prepared during the “blue sky days” — before disaster strikes. This event combines classroom instruction and practical, hands-on experience to help you learn how to safely and effectively use chainsaws in disaster relief and cleanup situations.
What You’ll Learn
Proper chainsaw operation and maintenance
Safety techniques and best practices
How to serve effectively during disaster response
What to Bring
Certified chaps and eye protection are required. (Chainsaws will be provided)
About the Instructor
Training will be led by Kenton Hunt, a disaster relief leader and board member of the PA VOAD with years of experience in volunteer coordination and chainsaw safety.
This is a non-certification course, but participants will leave equipped and confident to serve on future disaster relief deployments.

Western, NC - Rebuild - Siding, Lights, Pews, Painting
The work at Halls chapel Baptist Church in Burnsville, NC continues!
DATE is to be determined. Depending on the progress of the Halls chapel rebuild, we will take this trip either on the week of October 5th or october 12th.
We are looking to take a group back to Burnsville, NC to continue work on Halls Chapel Baptist Church. The projects for this trip include;
Complete siding at the church, install lights and pews
Painting a flat roof at a separate location - damaged by fallen trees
Rooted in Love 2025 - Community Service Event
The Rooted In Love 2025 Project is an opportunity to serve the local neighborhoods around Garden Chapel in Middletown, PA.
This is a sponsored trip of Garden Chapel, Middletown, PA but all are welcome to join.

Western, NC - March Rebuild Projects
For the week of March 23rd-29th, we are planning a clean-up/rebuild trip to Western, NC, specifically in the areas of Asheville, Bat Cave and Chimney Rock. We are providing this trip in two segments, though all volunteers are welcome to stay the whole week.

Ministry Service Day
Help Love in Action prepare for their upcoming trip to Western NC with this Ministry Service Day. Mike will be prepping the team trailer and van for the journey to NC, March 23rd.
